Addison, Ill. - The Alma College bowling team competed in the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) sectionals on Friday (March 8). The top eight finishers in four sectionals across the country qualify for the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) in April.
Emma Davis (Horton, Mich / Hanover Horton) was the highest-placing Scot, finishing in 70th place with 1109 (184.8 avg.) in six rounds. Josee Hale (Defiance, Ohio / Defiance Senior High) and Rachel Kuczajda were right on her tail with 1107 (184.5 avg.) and 1097 (182.8 avg.), respectively.
How It Happened
- Davis started off strong with 211 in the first round. Kuczajda also went over 200 with 207.
- Hale led Alma in the next three rounds, being the only person to score over 200 in each of them. Her 220 in round four was the second highest of any Scot on the day.
- Kuczajda posted 201 in the fifth game, the second of three times she would go over 200. Davis just missed the mark with 194, while Sarah Wilson (Croswell, Mich. / Croswell-Lexington) and Kemmie Shunk each had their day-best, Wilson with 180 and Shunk with 164.
- Five Scots saved their best for last, posting personal-bests on the day led by Davis with a team-high 225. Kuczajda scored 213 and Brooke Fornetti (Iron Mountain, Mich. / Iron Mountain), Emily Zalenko (White Lake, Mich. / North Farmington) and Kasidey Easlick (Gladwin, Mich. / Gladwin) all came within five points of 200.
Alma will compete in the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) on Saturday (March 9) and Sunday (Match 10).
