Women's Bowling Wins Buckeye Baker Classic

Columbus, Ohio - The Alma College bowling team won the Buckeye Baker Classic over the weekend (Jan. 12 & 13), defeating Huntington University in the championship round of the eight-team tournament.

How It Happened

The Scots finished in third place after 36 baker games on Saturday, behind Huntington and Ohio State. They averaged a score of 162.5 per game, four fewer pins than Huntington and just one fewer than Ohio State. Over the 36 games, Alma scored over 200 twice, doing so in the 38th and 30th games. Its score of 213 in the 30th game was the fifth-highest score put up by any team on Saturday.

After obtaining the third seed in Sunday's championship tournament, Alma defeated Adrian in a best two-out-of-three series. It dropped the first game 160-148, but came back in the next two, scoring 213 and 190 to move on to the semifinals. There, it swept Ohio State, 163-130 and 193-177. In the championship round against Huntington, it won in three games, taking the first, 201-157, and the third 178-135.

Alma will travel to Addison, Ill., for the at Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic on Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20.
