Olivet, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team allowed four first-half field goals en route to a 77-62 victory over Olivet College on Saturday (Dec. 14) afternoon. The Scots (5-5, 1-2 MIAA) led from start to finish and were ahead by as many as 32 points.
Stasha Warchock (Marquette, Mich. / Marquette) led Alma with 18 points. She was one of four players in double figures: Emily Long (Dayton, Ohio / Arch Bishop Alter) had 13, Maddie Robbins (Saint Johns, Mich. / Saint Johns) had 12 and Madison Hill (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) had 11. Jeny Brandt (Escanaba, Mich. / Escanaba) posted nine points and 13 rebounds. Jackie Jarvis (Fowlerville, Mich. / Fowlerville) had a team-high six assists.
"Tonight was a great team win on the road," said Head Coach Sami Stormont. "I was proud of the energy and urgency we played with from the start. We're excited to get back to practice and continue to improve."
The Scots outdid Olivet in nearly every statistical category: rebounds (47 to 35), points in the paint (46 to 26) and bench points (24 to 8).
Alma led 30-7 after the first quarter and 41-14 at halftime. Olivet finished shooting 33 percent from the field.
Alma has two weeks off before returning to action. It will travel to Naples, Fla., for two games against Castleton on Sunday (Dec. 29) and Hamline (Dec. 30).
