Alma, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced Monday (Feb. 12) freshman Torres Ingraham (Nassau, Bahamas / Northview (AL)) and sophomore Blaire Showers (Ithaca, Mich. / Ithaca) of Alma College track and field were recognized as MIAA Athletes of the Week.

Ingraham received the Field Athlete of the Week award for his performance in the long jump at the Aquinas College Little Meet on Friday, Feb. 9, winning the event with a jump of 6.76 meters. Ingraham also claimed victory in the 60-meter dash, where he finished in 7.12 seconds, good for second in Alma College history.

Showers received the Track Athlete of the Week award for her performances in two events at Aquinas. Showers led the Scots to a victory in the 4x400-meter relay, running her 400-meter portion in just 65 seconds, while also taking the runner-up spot in the 800-meter run, finishing just seconds shy of her personal best time.

This is the first time either athlete has been recognized for the weekly award in their young careers, and the first time since April 10, 2017 that an Alma College track and field athlete earned the recognition.

Ingraham, Showers, and the rest of Alma College track and field will be competing in the GVSU Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 16.
