Freeland, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced Monday (Jan. 30) Alma College junior Hannah Garn (Charlotte, Mich./Charlotte) has been recognized as an MIAA Track Athlete of the Week.
Garn finished first in the 5000-meter run Saturday (Jan. 28) at the Defiance College Invitational. Her official time of 19:21.30 is a college career-best time and was 38 seconds faster than the next finisher in the event.
Garn is the latest in a streak of three consecutive weeks for Alma College track and field to receive weekly recognition from the MIAA. Senior Kaitlyn Arnold (Jackson, Mich./Jackson Northwest) has won Track Athlete of the Week in each of the last two weeks while sophomore Erin Goggins (Hastings, Mich./Hastings) won Field Athlete of the Week two weeks ago.
The track and field team will remain idle this week in preparation for the Aquinas College Little Meet on Firday February 10th.
