Scots Perform Across the State

University Park, Mich. - The Alma College track and field team made its way to Saginaw Valley State University on Friday (Jan. 20) to compete in the Doug Hansen Open.

Sophomore Erin Goggins (Hastings, Mich./ Hastings) came away victorious in the pole vault, once again matching her personal record of 3.20 meters. Junior Karen Flesh (Aurora, Ill./ Metea Valley) finshed third in shot put with a personal-record 10.02 meters.

Freshman Blaire Showers (Ithaca, Mich./ Ithaca) placed seventh in the one-mile run with a time of 5:21.62 with junior Chelse Van Spronsen (Jenison, Mich./ Jenison) close behind, running a time of 5:27.19.

Senior Kaitlyn Arnold (Jackson, Mich./ Jackson Northwest) made a seperate trip to Grand Valley State University Friday (Jan. 20) to compete in the 3000-meter run at the GVSU Open. With a time of 9:50.08, Arnold not only placed second among D-I and D-II competition, but she also moved up to second-fastest in all of D-III.

Next up for Alma College track and field is the Defiance College Open Saturday January 28th.
