Scots face Albion and Calvin in MIAA Tri-Meet

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College Swimming and Diving teams traveled to Calvin University for a tri-meet with the host Knights and Albion College Britons on Saturday (Feb. 1). On the men's side, the Scots fell to the Knights 225-45 as well as the Britons 220-43. The women were also defeated by the hosts 222-50 and Britons 232-42.

Despite the team scores, the Scots had solid individual performances. Freshmen Sarah Wronski (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota) finished in seventh place in both the 100 yard and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 1:05.74 and 2:24.71. Junior Max Carey (Highland, Mich. / International Academy West) and freshman Sawyer Hill (Wyandotte, Mich. / Wyandotte Roosevelt) finished seventh and eighth in the 100-yard butterfly event. Junior Haven Westra (Jenison, Mich. / Jenison) finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley. Freshman Nate Sutton (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill) also had a top 10 finish for the Scots, finishing ninth in the 200-yard freestyle event.

The Scots will return home for a dual against the Kalamazoo College Hornets next Saturday (Feb. 8). The meet will begin at 1:00 pm.
