Freeland, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced on Monday (Oct. 28) that Nate Sutton (Livonia, Mich. / Livonia Churchill) and Devin Carapelluci have been named the conference's athletes of the week in swimming and diving.
Sutton was the men's swimmer of the week as he had a dominant showing in his first college meet on Saturday (Oct. 26). In the 500 yard freestyle, Sutton won with a time of 4:56.33. In the 1000 yard freestyle, Sutton beat Eric Ferrea's school record with a time of 10:01.81. He also won the 500-free against Albion with a time of 4:56.33. In addition, Sutton swam in the 200 back relay, the 3x500 free relay, the 400 IM relay, and the 200 free relay at the MIAA Relays on Friday (Oct. 25).
Carapelluci was named women's diver of the week after posting a score of 168.50 in the 1 meter diving event, defeating her Albion opponent handily.
Sutton and Carapelluci will be back in action when the Scots head to Olivet College for a dual meet on Saturday (Nov. 23).
