Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College men's and women's swimming and diving team began competition at the MIAA Championships at the Venema Aquatic Center on Wednesday, February 21. The Scots kicked off the meet competing in the men's and women's 800 freestyle relay.
Both teams sit in fifth place with 26 points following the Wednesday evening events.
How It Happened
- In the women's race, the team of junior Kate Lehman (Haslett, Mich./Haslett), sophomore Sydney Louis-Ferdinand (Southfield, Mich./Birmingham Groves), and freshmen Allison Brown (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) and Haven Westra (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) took sixth with a time of 8:26.20.
- The men also took sixth when the team of junior Eric Ferrara (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson), freshman Max Carey (Highland, Mich./International Academy West), and sophomores Nathan Wilburn (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney Community) and Cole Malhoit (Canton, Mich./Canton) finished with a time of 7:42.59. The men improved upon their seeded race time of 7:58.89.
The MIAA Championship continues on Thursday, February 22, with preliminary races starting at 10:00 a.m, followed by the finals at 5:30 p.m.
