Scots take part in MIAA Relays

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College swimming and diving team took part in the annual Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association relays on Friday (Oct. 27) night, competing against the other MIAA teams at the Venema Aquatic Center on the campus of Calvin College.

No team scores were kept at the event. 

How It Happened

  • Alma's top finish of the night came in the women's 200 medley relay, where the team of freshman Allison Brown (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake), freshman Haven Westra (Jenison, Mich./Jenison), junior Kate Lehman (Haslett, Mich./Haslett) and sophomore Sydney Louis-Ferdinand (Southfield, Mich./Birmingham Groves) placed sixth. 
  • The team of sophomore Cole Malhoit (Canton, Mich./Canton), freshman Lucas Sereno (Oxford, Mich./Oxford), sophomore Nathan Wilburn (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney) and freshman Dylan Guitierrez (Alma, Mich./Alma) finished seventh in the men's 200 backstroke relay.
  • Lehman, Louis-Ferdinand, Brown, and freshman Alex Karakuc (Holly, Mich./Holly) teamed up to place seventh in the women's 200 butterfly relay.

Alma will resume completion on Saturday, Nov. 11 when it travels to Kalamazoo College for a dual meet with the Hornets.
