Thirteen Softball Players Earn Spots on the NFCA Scholar-Athlete List

Louisville, Ky. - Thirteen players from the Alma College softball team have been named to the 2016-17 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Scholar-Athlete List, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Student-athletes must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher to earn the distinction.

Representing the Scots out of 1,825 Division III recipients are Daina Ball (Angola, Ind. / Angola), Kendall Bird (Holt, Mich. / Holt), Celeste Boyer (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East), Mary Brooks (Portland, Mich. / Portland), Anna Couture (Posen, Mich. / Posen), Kayla Holz (Bad Axe, Mich. / Bad Axe), Kaylee Martin (North Branch, Mich. / North Branch), Katie McClure (Manchester, Mich. / Manchester), Madyson Piche (Sault Saint Marie, Mich. / Sault Area), Danielle Service (Mason, Mich. / Mason), Morgan Stratton (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc), Riley Terwilliger (Mount Pleasant, Mich. / Sacred Heart Academy) and Morgan Trout (Otisville, Mich. / Lakeville). Division III had only 18 fewer honorees than Division I, which led all collegiate and high school organizations.

The softball team was named to the NFCA All-Academic List last week. As a team, the Scots posted the 57th best GPA in all of Division III of 3.426.
