Alma, Mich. - The Alma College softball team's 5-2 win over Trine in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association semifinal game on Thursday sends them to the Championship game on Friday at 2 p.m. It will play the winner of Saint Mary's and Trine, which will play at noon. The Scots defeated both the Belles and the Thunder en route to the title game.
Morgan Stratton (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) won her second game of the day and 18th of the year in the win. She allowed two runs on three hits and nine strikeouts.
McKenzie Creed (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg) led the team with two RBI as she went 2-for-4 from the plate. Her single to center field in the top of the third scored Katie Long (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic) to make the score 3-0. She singled again in the top of the fifth, bringing home Anna Couture (Posen, Mich./Posen).
Mary Brooks (Portland, Mich./Portland) was responsible for the scoring of two more runs. She doubled to left-center field which scored Couture. Later, with the score 4-2, she reached on an error by the second baseman which allowed Couture to score. The senior second baseman scored three runs in the game.
Creed was the team leader in RBI on the day with four. Schweiger hit .571 in the two wins, going 4-for-7 and scoring two runs. Couture had two of the team's four doubles and led the team in slugging at .667 percent.
