Notre Dame, Ind. - The Alma College softball team split a pair of games against Saint Mary's College on Saturday afternoon. The Scots (19-5, 9-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) took game one 10-2 and fell in game two 5-2. The game two loss snaps a nine game win streak.
Anna Couture (Posen, Mich./Posen) went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored in the game one win. Mary Brooks (Portland, Mich./Portland) hit her third home run of the year to lead off the top of the third. Brooks is the MIAA leader in batting average (.493) and on base percentage (.539) and is fourth in slugging percentage (.725).
Morgan Stratton (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) earned the win in game one after going seven innings strong and allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three. She also came in for the final three and two thirds innings, relieving Katie McClure (Manchester, Mich./ Manchester) who picked up just her third loss of the season. Stratton is tied for second in the conference in ERA at 1.14, McClure is seventh at 1.86.
Alma has a week off before returning to the field. it will travel to Trine to play the Thunder next Sunday, April 23. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
