Alma's Softball team finished their weekend Ohio swing on Sunday with two games against host Hiram College. The Scots were victorious in both contests, 6-1 and 14-1 (five innings) respectively to improve their record to 15-2 on the 2011 season.
In today's first game, Sr. P Tara Leddy (Saginaw, MI/Swan Valley) pitched a complete game for the victory, allowing just two hits and striking out nine Hiram batters. The win improved the stellar senior to an 8-0 record thus far in 2011.
In the batters box, Sr. CF Kelly Koenigsknecht (Fowler, MI/Fowler) went two for four, while Jr. DP Erin Pintek (Flushing, MI/Flushing) was two for four with two runs batted in. So. OF Amanda Schneider (New Baltimore, MI/Anchor Bay) added a run and one run batted in for the Scots.
The second game saw the Scots score 11 runs in the first three innings en route to the 14-1 win. Koenigsknecht scored four runs and was two for four with an RBI, whileJr. 1B Emily Ross (Buchanan, MI/Buchanan) went two for three with three RBI's and three runs scored.
Schneider contributed two RBI's in the night-cap, while Jr. C Becca DeWyse (Bay City, MI/Bay City All-Saints) went two for three and had three RBI's, helping the Scots to the victory. So. P Louise Rezmer (Essexville, MI/Bay City All-Saints) picked up the pitching win for Alma.
The Scots are scheduled to begin MIAA play on Wednesday, when they host undefeated Adrian College. The doubleheader starts at 3:30 p.m. at Scots Park.
