Grand Rapids, Mich.- The Alma College men's tennis team suffered a 6-3 loss to Illinois Tech on Saturday (March 10), playing a non-conference match on the campus of Calvin College.
The Scots (6-4 overall) picked up a win at No. 3 doubles and No. 3 and 6 singles against the Scarlet Hawks.
How It Happened
- The No. 3 doubles team of freshman Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) and senior Quinn Summerfield (Lowell, Mich./Lowell) defeated opponents Jack Pio and Connor Mullane 8-5. The doubles pair moves to 3-3 overall.
- After suffering defeats at No. 1 and 2 singes, senior Noah Ackerman (Munising, Mich./Munising) snagged a point for the Scots at No. 3 singles, with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Adam Laitinen. Ackerman is 3-3 in the No. 3 slot and 4-0 at No. 2, posting victories in his last five matches.
- Alma earned its third and final point at No. 5 singles when Ralston defeated Broderick Croonquist, 6-4, 6-2. Ralston is 4-2 on the season in the No. 5 spot with six straight singles victories.
The Scots host Lake Superior State University on Sunday, March. 11, at the Alma College Stone Recreation Center. The match is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
