Holland, Mich. - The Alma College men's soccer team struggled against Hope College in a 4-0 loss on Wednesday (Oct. 2).
From the get-go, the Flying Dutch came out with an aggressive offense. Ryan Flynn, with the assistance of Nic Kubert, scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. Hope continued to apply pressure and scored two more goals in the first half. The Flying Dutch added another goal in the 89th minute.
Senior Garrison Mast (Grand Haven, Mich. / Grand Haven) tallied a total of eight saves in the game. That pushed him to 58 saves this season and second in the conference. Senior Noah Canlas (Naperville, Ill. / Naperville Central) led the team in shots with two; both were on goal. Alma was called for five fouls to Hope's 11, including a yellow card given in 69th minute given to Charlie Rogers.
Alma will return to the pitch on Tuesday (Oct. 8) to compete against Olivet College at Scotland Yard. The game is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
