Alma College's Men's Soccer team hit the road Wednesday night to take on league rival Adrian College and came away with a tough 2-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. With the defeat, the Scots are now 1-3 in the MIAA and 5-5 overall, while Adrian improved to 1-3 in the league and 3-7 in 2012.
Adrian scored both their goals in the first half of a defensive match. The first goal for the Bulldogs came at 32:38 and then was followed with another tally at 34:58, giving the home team the decisive 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. Neither team was able to do much offensively in the second half, and Adrian walked off the pitch with the win.
So. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) took the loss for the Scots and had two saves on four shots on goal. Offensively, Alma recorded four shots on goal by four different players - Jr. F Matteo Capicchioni (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield), So. D David Gettel (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere), So. F Trae Pitts (N. Muskegon, Mich./N. Muskegon) and Fr. M Matt Sovis (Williamston, Mich./Williamston).
Overall, Adrian had 12 total shots, while Alma finished with nine.
