Alma, Mich. – Head Coach Michael Kinney of the Alma College men's lacrosse team has named three student-athletes as captains for the 2019 season.
Seniors Jared Nycz (Elma, N.Y. / Iroquois) and Adam Cousineau (Canton, Mich. / Salem) as well as junior Connor Alley (Powell, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) will be the team leaders for the upcoming year.
Nycz, a captain of last year's squad, is the program's all-time leader in points (220), assists (120) and needs 20 more goals to lead the category. The midfielder earned 2016 MIAA Offensive Most Valuable Player as a freshman and has been a member of the All-MIAA First Team in all three years with the program.
"Jared is an incredible on the field talent that makes everyone around him better with his creativity, his selflessness, and his competitiveness," Kinney said. "He never takes a play off and is always willing to step up and help his team. Jared is turning into a great leader through his actions and his attitude."
Cousineau led the Scots last year with 21 caused turnovers, he ranks sixth all time in the category with 45. The defender ranked fourth last year with 41 ground balls.
"Adam was a highly recruited high school player and has continued to develop into a top defender in the conference," Kinney said. "Adam is a guy that everyone on the team seeks council from. He's one of the smartest players I've ever coached and he's extremely competitive."
After coming off the bench his freshman year, Alley started in 14 games and appeared in all 18 games last season. The attacker scored 17 goals and ranked second in assists with 16.
"Connor is an absolute grinder on the field," Kinney said. "I met Connor when he was in the 6th grade at a lacrosse camp and even then, the kid was always working hard and keeping everyone laughing. He's a great locker room guy, and a quality young man. He cares so deeply about this team and the guys on it. He'll be a great captain."
