Alma, Mich. - Freshman Chase Hunyadi (Pepper Pike, Ohio/University School) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, it was announced today (Monday, April 10) by the league office.
Hunyadi scored nine goals and added an assist for 10 points as the Scots split their first two conference games, falling by a 15-9 margin at Hope College on Wednesday (April 5) before rebounding with a 13-8 victory at Trine University on Saturday (April 8).
Hunyadi scored four goals against the Flying Dutchmen before tallying five goals and an assist in the win at Trine. In addition, he scored a man-up goal in each contest and converted nine of his 15 shots on goal during the week.
For the season, Hunyadi leads all players in the MIAA with 31 goals and 49 points and has scored four or more goals in five of his last six games. With five games remaining in the regular season, Hunyadi is already one of three players in program history to record 49 or more points in a season, and is one of five players in school history to score 30 or more goals in a campaign.
Alma (7-4 overall, 1-1 MIAA) will host a pair of games this week, welcoming Olivet College to Bahlke Field for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, April 11, before taking on defending league champion Albion College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15.
