Alma, Mich.- The Alma College men's golf team ended their season seventh in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, improving from 2017's eighth-place finish. The team had a 330-stroke average over the four MIAA Jamborees and the Fall Finale.

Alma started out the year with a 14th-place finish at the Lou Collins Invitational, going on to host the Alma Invite and landing in sixth. At the first, second, and third MIAA Jamborees, the Scots finished seventh of eight teams, the improved scores contributing to their seventh-place overall finish in the conference.

As the two freshmen on the team, JP McDonald and Eli Pinter were strong assets to the team. Pinter led the Scots on four occasions, including the MIAA Championships, where he shot a 162 (+22) over two rounds and tied for 36th place. He finished in ninth place overall at the second Jamboree, earning a season-best score of 73. McDonald saw action in all eight events this year with the squad, setting his personal best score of 89 at the fourth Jamboree.

The Scots graduate two seniors- Kyle Bodkins and Bennett Schmitt- both four-year participants with the golf program. Bodkins finished among the top 30 of all golfers at Jamboree #4 and scored a 78, while Schmitt led the Scots in his 32nd-place finish at Jamboree #3. He shot a new career-best game at Jamboree #2, tying for 37th and scoring an 81.
