Freeland, Mich. - Kevin Gamble (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball player of the week, as announced by the conference on Monday (Jan. 7). This is the first time a player from the Alma College men's basketball team has earned the honor this season.
Gamble posted two double-doubles in two Alma wins last week against Kalamazoo and Calvin. He put up 11 points and 10 rebounds along with two blocks in a 74-61 win over the Hornets, then followed that up with a season-high 18 points and 11 boards in a 67-66 last-second win at Calvin.
Gamble has now recorded a double-double in three straight games, all Alma wins. He is currently third in the conference in rebounds per game with 6.3, but has more boards over his last three games than the two players above him.
