Alma Men's Basketball player Tommy Erickson named to the 2012 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan College Academic-Athletic Team

Alma College men's basketball player Tommy Erickson (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba), who graduated this past spring, was named to the 2012 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan's Men's College Academic-Athletic Team. The Scots' leading scorer for the 2011-12 campaign at 12.7 points per game, he had a cumulative GPA of 3.38.

Additionally, Erickson was a finalist for the MIAA's Albert Deal Award, an award that recognizes senior class athletes who have excelled in academics and athletics, as well as displayed outstanding leadership qualities.

"We are proud of Tommy in earning the BCAM award and it is nice honor for Alma College basketball," said Scots Head Coach Sam Hargraves. "The list of players he is associated with is impressive and reflects brightly on his accomplishments at Alma. Plus, him being a finalist for the prestigious Deal award is another proud achievement for him."

Sr Kalamazoo College Joe Prepolec 3.62 Bloomfield Hills, MI

Joe is a three-time All-MIAA selection. This past season he was a pre-season All-American nominee. He finished his career as Kalamazoo College's all-time leader in blocked shots for both career and season. He scored 1,305 career points which is eighth in school's history. He was selected to four All-tournament teams during his career. Joe has a cumulative GPA of 3.62 in Math/Business.

Sr Michigan Tech University Mike Hojnacki 3.63 Milwaukee, WI

Mike is a two-time GLIAC Commissioner's Award winner, was named to the All-GLIAC North Division Second team, is a three-time All-GLIAC Academic Excellence winner, and scored 1,288 points to rank 14th in career points at MTU. Mike has a cumulative GPA of 3.63 in Mechanical Engineering.

Sr University of Michigan Zack Novak 3.51 Chesterton, IN

Zack helped the University of Michigan to a share of the Big Ten title this year. He earned his third straight CoSIDA/Capitol One Academic All-District first team award. He was the second three-time captain in U-M history, and started every game this season to become the 45th 1,000 point scorer in school history. Zack was also the 28th Wolverine to reach 1,000 point/500 rebounds in a career. Zack carries a 3.51 GPA in Business.

Sr Alma College Thomas Erickson 3.38 Escanaba, MI

Thomas was a two-time Second Team All-MIAA. This past season he lead Alma College in scoring with 12.7 per game, rebounding with 5.6 and total blocks with 27. Thomas has a cumulative GPA of 3.38 in Pre-Med.

Sr Hope College David Krombeen 3.2 Grandville, MI

David has been selected to the All-MIAA teams the past two seasons and was the league MVP in 2011-12. This past season he was first team All Great Lakes Region as well as first team NABC All-American. He participated in the Gainey Ranch Leadership Retreat in 2011. For his career he finished second all-time in career assists and steals at Hope College. David has a cumulative GPA of 3.2 in Psychology.
