Alma, Mich. - The Alma College rocket league team competed virtually in the inaugural MIAA Rocket League tournament this past weekend (May 9 & 10). Alma's first match of the day was against Concordia University, followed by a match with Davenport University.
The Scots took an early lead in round one with a goal from Sandro Suffredini on a nice pass from Connor McCain. Alma never let the lead go in this round and won 8-0. Surredini led the charge in this game with four goals on seven shots.
Round two began with Sam West taking it to the goal by himself for another early lead. West found the back of the net twice more this round helping the Scots take round two, 5-1.
Round three began with a quick goal from the corner by Surredini. The Scots continued to move the ball around and won round three a score of 7-0, pushing them forward in the tournament to play Davenport later in the day.
Davenport took an early lead in round one but Alma rallied to take a goal back, tying the score 1-1. However, the Scots would lose this round, 4-1.
Round two began with a stalemate as neither team found a goal. After the two teams traded goals, Davenport finished with a 5-1 victory.
Round three began as both teams continued playing solid defense and not giving the other any looks. Both teams eventually convert on their first goal leading Alma to fall 3-1.
