Alma College Esports wins GGleagues Fall League of Legends Championship

Alma, Mich. - This past Saturday (Nov. 16), Alma College League of Legends competed in the semi-finals of the GGleague against Northern Michigan University and the Finals against Alpena Community College.

Alma College locked in a team composition of Gnar Top, Volibear Jungle, Lux Mid, Ashe ADC and Thresh Support against Northern Michigan University. Bruce Fowler started off making an impact around the map with a gank bottom lane resulting in first blood for the Alma College squad and another gank top lane resulting in one elimination. Leighton Collingwood took over from there, creating picks around the map and putting his team in position to secure the win and their spot in the finals.

Final Score: Eliminations 25-12, Towers 11-0, Dragons 3-1.
Player of the Game: Leighton Collingwood; Thresh 2 Kills, 1 Death, 19 Assists.

Later in the day, Alma College faced off against Alpena Community College in a best-of-three format.

Game One

Alma College locked in a team composition of Poppy Top, Amumu Jungle, Lux Mid, Ashe ADC and Nautilus Support against Alpena Community College. Monty Finch picked up first blood for Alma College as it invaded the enemy jungle. Alma showed its prowess for team fighting in this game as Leo Tong led the way as Lux creating opportunities for his team and himself to find eliminations.

Final Score: Eliminations 28-9, Towers 11-1, Dragons 3-1.

Game Two

Alma College locked in a team composition of Poppy Top, Jarvan IV Jungle, Lux Mid, Jhin ADC and Thresh Support. This game started off with a team fight in the enemy's jungle resulting in Alma College taking an early 2-0 lead in eliminations. Alma College again showed off their strength as five working together to secure objectives around the map as a group. This game was Suidgeest's time to shine as he took control of the game in the second half, finding eliminations all around the map.

Final Score: Eliminations 29-13, Towers 10-1, Dragons 4-2.

In the end, Alma College came out on top ending the series 2-0 and the GGLeagues Fall Season champions. Overall the Alma College Varsity League of Legends team was 6-1 in the regular season and 4-0 in the playoffs.
