Alma, Mich. - Sophomore Logan Huff (Johannesburg, Mich./Johannesburg-Lewiston) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week, it was announced today (Monday, April 2) by the league office.
The Scots' starting third baseman, Huff went 5-for-9 with three doubles, a home run and four RBIs in Alma's two games against Albion College on Friday (March 30) as the Scots swept with Britons with 5-2 and 20-3 victories. In Game 1 of the doubleheader, Huff was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and also scored a run. In the second game, he recorded three hits in six at-bats, including two doubles and his first career home run. He also tallied two RBIs and scored three times.
For the season, Huff is hitting a team-high .385 and leads the team with 25 hits, including a team-best seven doubles. He has also recorded a hit in five straight games and eight of the last nine contests.
Huff is the third student-athlete from the baseball program to receive player of the week accolades this season.
Alma (10-8 overall, 3-3 MIAA) closes out a four-game series with Albion this afternoon, taking on the Britons at Albion's Champions Stadium. The Scots will take on Trine University (IN) this week, hosting the Thunder for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 7, before traveling to Angola, Ind., on Sunday, April 8.
