Berea, Ky. - The Alma College baseball team finished its weekend in Kentucky with a dominating 25-0 performance at Berea College on Sunday (March 19.)
Junior Eric Frontzak (Naperville, Ill. / Montini Catholic) continued his dominance on the mound in his second start of the season. Frontzak pitched seven solid innings, allowing just two hits and sending seven batters back to the dugout on strikes.
The Scots scored in each of the first six innings of the contest, posting more than one run in every inning except in the third. Freshman Jaret Koin (Sterling, Mich. / Standish-Sterling Central) led the team with five RBIs on the afternoon, four coming on a grand slam in the nine-run sixth.
Junior Matthew Minaudo (Clinton Township, Mich. / De La Salle Collegiate) and freshman Vann Acker (Eaton Rapids, Mich. / Eaton Rapids) each crossed the plate a game-high four times in the contest. Minaudo also led with four walks in six plate appearances.
Seniors Greg Goffee (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter), Adam Thoryk (Syracuse, N.Y. / John C. Birdlebough / St. John Fisher College), and Patrick Finn (Allenton, Mich. / Almont) along with freshmen Vann Acker and Max Trucks (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant / Davenport University) each contributed three RBIs on the afternoon as well.
The Scots will make their way back to campus and prepare for their final non-conference game against the Mustangs of Marygrove College. The game, Alma's first at Klenk Park this season, is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21.
