Freeland, Mich. - Emily Jodway '19, a member of the Alma College Sports Information staff, has been selected as the recipient of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Tom Renner Award, the league office announced Wednesday (July 17). The award, named in honor of longtime MIAA Publicist and Hope College Sports Information Director Tom Renner, is presented annually to a student assistant at an MIAA member college sports information office for outstanding service. This is the fifth consecutive year a student from Alma College has received the honor and the sixth year since the award's inception in 2008.
Jodway graduated from Alma College this April after spending four years in the sports information department. Among Jodway's tasks for the Scots were game-day management, photography, statistics, publication, and writing. Jodway spent three seasons as the sports information contact for Alma men's and women's swimming & diving while also covering golf, tennis, cross country, track and field, and women's bowling. She also took on responsibilities in web streaming broadcasts and research projects.
Jodway will continue working in athletic communications with a graduate assistant position at Western Michigan University.
