Steven Rackley has announced his resignation as the Alma College athletic director, effective immediately. A member of the athletics staff since 2015, Rackley steps down to pursue other opportunities. In his resignation, Rackley expressed his appreciation for a tremendous athletics staff and his confidence that they are set for future success.
"I am grateful to Steven for his dedication to Alma's athletics program," said President Jeff Abernathy. "He worked to develop a culture of personal and professional growth for student-athletes, introducing a new mission statement and a set of core values designed to convey what it means to be an Alma College Scot. Steven oversaw significant improvements to the Hogan Center during his time as athletic director, including the addition of the Sherman Strength and Conditioning Facility, the Hatcher Wrestling Room, and the football and lacrosse locker room renovation."
Sarah Dehring, associate athletic director and senior woman administrator, will serve as interim director of athletics. Dehring joined the Alma College staff in 2010 as head women's volleyball coach, became the senior woman administrator in 2013, and advanced to an administrative role in 2016.
