Hadyn Terwilliger Goes Deep Twice

The softball team split its conference-opening series with Calvin on Thursday (March 28), winning 7-4 and falling 4-3. Four of Alma's seven losses this year have come by one run. Freshman shortstop Hadyn Terwilliger (Mount Pleasant, Mich. / Sacred Heart Academy) hit a home run in each game, going 4-for-7 with four RBI on the day. Terwilliger is tied for fifth in the MIAA with three home runs while the Scots as a team lead the league in batting average, on base percentage and runs per game.

Alley Continues His Season-Long Scoring Streak

The Alma College men's lacrosse team lost, 17-4, to the Elmhurst College Bluejays on Sunday (March 31) at Elmhurst's Langhorst Field. Senior midfielder Jared Nycz (Buffalo, N.Y. / Iroquois) scored two goals and tallied one assist to the lead the Scots. Junior attacker Connor Alley (Powell, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) extended his season-long goal streak to 11 games with a score less than two and half minutes left in the contest.

Women's Lacrosse Overpowered in Two MIAA Games

The women's lacrosse team dropped games Adrian and Saint Mary's (IN) to open the conference season. Junior goalie Allie Ray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) moved closer to the program's all-time save record. She has 464 saves in her career and needs four more to pass Stephanie Herman. Junior midfielder Olivia Benoit (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) moved into sole possession of fifth place on Alma's all-time goal-scoring list with 70. She is 13 away from fourth-place Shelby Frazer

Men's Tennis No Match for Olivet

The Scots swept Olivet 9-0 on Friday (March 29) for its third sweep in a row. Sophomore Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich. / Cadillac) continued his strong campaign with a win 6-3, 6-3 win over Ben Morrow, junior Brett Reuter (Armada, Mich. / Armada) took down Tyler Nobel 6-2, 6-0, and junior Sam Lindeman (Greenville, Mich. / Greenville) defeated Don Doyle 6-1, 6-1.

Women's Tennis Wins Seventh Straight Match

Alma defeated Olivet College 7-2 on Friday (March 29) afternoon for its seventh consecutive win and eighth out of 11 matches this season. Junior Caroline Ross (Sandusky, Mich. / Sandusky) earned the Scots' only sweep, freshman Abigail Davenport (Downers Grove, Ill. / Downers Grove South) beat Rae Claramunt 6-1, 7-5 and sophomore Brooke Butterfield (Portland, Mich. / Portland) defeated Miranda Pier 6-1, 6-4. No Alma player dropped a set on the day.
