The new 12,000-square-foot addition to the Hogan Center, which opened in the fall of 2016, provides enhanced strength and conditioning space for all Alma College student-athletes and multi-functional practice space for the wrestling team.
The project also included the renovation of existing locker rooms and offices, space for a new Integrative Physiology and Health Science lab and practice room for the cheer/STUNT program.
The project is funded entirely by donor contributions, including $1 million commitments each from Alma College alumni and Board of Trustee members Greg Hatcher, class of 1983, and Michael Sherman, class of 1974.
The ground level of the building addition serves as the Sherman Strength and Conditioning Facility, the athletics department's main weight and conditioning room for all student-athletes. The upper level features the Hatcher Wrestling Room.
The $3.5 million two-story glass structure, constructed on the east side of the existing Hogan Center, faces the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail and Wright Avenue.
